Skidboot was a Blue Heeler born in 1992 who became one of the most beloved dogs in America. His owner, David Hartwig — a cowboy from Quinlan, Texas — never set out to train a famous dog. But Skidboot had other plans.

With no formal training methods, Skidboot learned to follow commands with a level of precision and gentleness that left audiences speechless. He could balance, wait, walk backwards, and respond to the subtlest cues — all while never losing his calm, joyful spirit.

Skidboot appeared on national television, won competitions, and touched the hearts of millions. But to David, he was simply his best friend.
